In-Hospital Nutrition Care

From the ward to your follow-up: the same dietitian sees you through

Reset Health provides daily inpatient dietetic cover at three Mediclinic hospitals in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, at the request of attending physicians, surgeons, oncologists and other specialists.

Where we work

Three hospitals, one standard of care

Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt

Bellville

Ward cover by Valpre, Carike and Carli. The hospital adjoins our Bellville rooms, so outpatient follow-up happens next door.

Mediclinic Durbanville

Durbanville

Covered by our Durbanville practice, led by co-founder Saskia Zietsman, with outpatient follow-up at our Durbanville rooms nearby.

Mediclinic Cape Gate

Brackenfell / Kraaifontein

Covered by our Durbanville practice team, with the same referral process and outpatient continuity.

Admitted, or have a family member in one of these hospitals? Ask the treating team for a Reset Health dietitian referral. We typically see ward patients within 24 hours. Inpatient dietitian services are covered by all major South African medical aids as part of hospital admission cover, typically at no out-of-pocket cost.

On the wards

What our inpatient service covers

1

Nutrition screening within 24 hours of referral

Using validated tools: MNA-SF, NRS-2002 and GLIM criteria for malnutrition diagnosis.

2

A personalised nutrition prescription

Energy, protein, fluid, electrolyte and micronutrient targets matched to your diagnosis and phase of illness, including oral nutrition support, enteral feeding and parenteral nutrition, advised together with your medical team.

3

Daily ward rounds

We re-assess and adjust the plan based on how you’re responding, every day, including weekends.

4

Discharge planning

A clear post-discharge nutrition plan, with your outpatient follow-up booked before you leave the ward.

The continuity advantage

You never have to re-explain your case

If a Reset Health dietitian saw you during your hospital stay, your outpatient follow-up is with the same team. We have your records, your hospital diagnosis codes, and the full context of your admission.

This continuity matters most for:

  • Cancer patients transitioning from acute admission to ongoing treatment
  • Surgical patients needing ERAS-protocol pre-op preparation and post-op recovery
  • Renal patients new to dialysis or post-transplant
  • Diabetes patients stabilising after an admission for hyperglycaemia or DKA
  • Cardiac patients moving from CCU/HCU back home
  • Older patients managing malnutrition after a fall, surgery or acute illness
